Padstow
And the Camel Estuary five miles in the other direction. A traditional Cornish fishing village for its Obby Oss Mayday celebrations. The Camel estuary is a mecca for watersports, water skiing, wind surfing, sailing and boat trips. Mullet provide superb sport for the keen fisherman well worth a visit.

Wildlife
The park has a host of resident wildlife. Pheasants, badgers, foxes, deer are all regular out-of-season visitors and you would be very unlucky not to see our buzzards circle above you during your stay, but if you are looking for something more exotic there are several local attractions to help you find them:
Newquay Zoo
Monkey Sanctury
Owl Sanctuary - including Falconry course of half a day & more
Cornish Birds of Prey
or slightly further afield are The Seal Sanctuary and the Otters in Launceston at Tamar Otters

Riding
Trimbleath Farm is one mile from the park and from Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm offers a choice of pre-bookable accompanied 1 or 2 Hour rides for singles or groups or even a supervised "Own a pony for a day".

Walking
With the South West Coastal Path just 3/4 mile from our doorstep there is some of the country's most spectacular coastal scenery awaiting you. In both directions a bus ride out will give you a purely coastal walk back, finishing up with some light refreshment at the Merrymoor Inn before walking the 10 minutes back up the valley to the campsite. We can also supply you with details of circular routes.

Coarse Fishing
The Lakes of Mawgan Porth Pools are on the edge of the Sun Haven Valley Park and offer both a "specimen" lake and a larger well-stocked lake (1.5 acre) with 46 pegs to fish for mirror & common carp, tench & bream. Catches of 100lbs + have been recorded by holidaymakers at Sun Haven Valley. Regular competitions are held. If you are looking for a variety of fisheries during your stay, we are within a few miles of Meadowside fisheries and Porth Lakes.

Trout Fishing
For 'natural' trout - we are within reach of Stithians lake - probably Englands most westerley large trout fishery, and in the other direction Crowdy Lake near Camelford offers trout fishing to fly, spinner or bait.

Local Attractions
St Mawgan's Japanese Garden & Bonsai Nursery
Crealy Adventure Park

The centre of the village of St.Mawgan, a mile away by cross-country footpath, is as pretty a village as you will find in Cornwall complete with stream, ford, village shop, church, convent and of course a village pub with fine food and real ale.
