Mawgan Porth Just
a level country path walk of 3/4 miles away. Well known for its Glorious
Golden Beach, with Cafe, Supermarket, Newsagent & The Merrymoor Inn
alongside. Just in from the beach, during the season, you can play
crazy golf or pitch-&-putt.
Newquay Just five miles to the South
West with a wide range of things to see and do. Explore the harbour,
take a dip in the swimming-pool, play squash or tennis or take things
easy in the garden or zoo. Enjoy a meal, walk around the shops, join
in the nightlife - there's lots to keep you busy.
Padstow And
the Camel Estuary five miles in the other direction. A traditional
Cornish fishing village for its Obby Oss Mayday celebrations. The
Camel estuary is a mecca for watersports, water skiing, wind surfing,
sailing and boat trips. Mullet provide superb sport for the keen fisherman
well worth a visit.
Golf A mile away by road is Merlin
Golf Club, where views over the Atlantic from the hilltop fairways
will enhance your enjoyment of the day. Suitable for beginners & experienced
golfers alike the facilities include an 8 bay driving range, a clubhouse
& shop.
For a little variety Treloy
Golf Club is 4 miles away to the
South and Trevose
Golf Club 6 miles to the North.
Kite Surfing, Kite Buggies and Power
Kites Just over a mile from the
park, the somewhat busier Watergate Bay beach offers a small school
for 'extreme' beach sports which, when conditions allow, offers lessons
in kite surfing, flying power kites & driving kite buggies.

Wildlife The
park has a host of resident wildlife. Pheasants, badgers, foxes, deer
are all regular out-of-season visitors and you would be very unlucky
not to see our buzzards circle above you during your stay, but if
you are looking for something more exotic there are several local
attractions to help you find them:

Riding Trimbleath
Farm is one mile from the park and from Monday to Friday, 10am to
5pm offers a choice of pre-bookable accompanied 1 or 2 Hour rides
for singles or groups or even a supervised "Own a pony for a
day". Walking
With the South West Coastal Path just 3/4
mile from our doorstep there is some of the country's most spectacular
coastal scenery awaiting you. In both directions a bus ride out
will give you a purely coastal walk back, finishing up with some
light refreshment at the Merrymoor Inn before walking the 10 minutes
back up the valley to the campsite. We can also supply you with
details of circular routes.
Coarse Fishing
The Lakes of Mawgan Porth Pools are on the
edge of the Sun Haven Valley Park and offer both a "specimen" lake
and a larger well-stocked lake (1.5 acre) with 46 pegs to fish for
mirror & common carp, tench & bream. Catches of 100lbs + have been
recorded by holidaymakers at Sun Haven Valley. Regular competitions
are held. If you are looking for a variety of fisheries during your
stay, we are within a few miles of Meadowside
fisheries and
Porth
Lakes.
Trout Fishing
For 'natural' trout - we are within reach
of Stithians
lake - probably Englands most westerley large trout fishery,
and in the other direction Crowdy
Lake near Camelford offers trout fishing to fly, spinner or bait.

Mawgan's Japanese Garden & Bonsai Nursery
Crealy
Adventure Park
The centre of the village of St.Mawgan, a mile away by cross-country
footpath, is as pretty a village as you will find in Cornwall complete
with stream, ford, village shop, church, convent and of course a
village pub with fine food and real ale.
Surfing and Surf School
With Mawgan Porth’s west facing beach,
surfers will encounter the same waves as world-famous Newquay, but
on a much quieter beach. The surf school on the beachfront offers
a range of lessons to cover all abilities including one-to-one sessions,
a similar lesson for couples, or general come-along-and-join us
lessons – including (in 2007) a 6.30-9pm session to keep the

Go Carting & ATV
Just a few miles from the park, St,Eval Go cart circuit has 4 tracks from 200m to 1200m, including fly-over & figure-of-8 with Karts from the 12mph 'Bambini' carts for children of 6+ yrs, up to the enthusiasts 70mph pro-karts. St Eval Go Karts - or for off-road ATV driving, you can travel half-an-hour up the road to Bodmin to try the three circuits on ATV's from 50cc to 125cc The ATV Centre
Climbing and Abseiling
Whilst this is normally frowned on along
beachside cliffs, the Adventure Centre in Newquay offers specialised
instructors for day long courses including the chance to try the
longest, highest & fastest aerial wire ropeway in Europe ? finished
off with a 50ft abseil.
Bike Hire
A local bike-hire shop will deliver bicycles
for your use (& collect them afterwards).
Shark Fishing / Deep sea or Wreck Fishing
There are boats for day trips at both Padstow
& Newquay.
