Like all Cornish giants he was bad tempered, self centred and a bane on the lives of the villagers and his long suffering wife. Join the village of St Agnes this weekend to celebrate the rise and fall of Giant Bolster and witness his dastardly deeds in street theatre and pageantry.

Battle of Stamford Hill  Each year, the re-enactment of the Battle of Stamford Hill excites both residents and visitors to the area. Members of the Sealed Knot Society keep the traditions of the English Civil War alive by re-enacting many of the major battles across the UK and honouring the fallen of those battles by laying wreaths at memorials. The Big Bale Push races are run in teams of four pushing a full sized round bale of straw weighing approximately 420 lbs and measuring 4'6" in diameter over courses of differing length according to the class of race. Separate races will take place from 5.30pm for under 8s, under 12s, under 16s, ladies and veterans. The main event, the open final will take place at 7pm

Bookings are now being taken for the first Walking Boscastle Festival due to kick off on Monday 6th October 2008 for some of the best walking in Britain – down in North Cornwall Guided walks will take you along some of the finest stretches of the Cornish coast path together with more leisurely strolls around the area and surrounding villages, plus an introduction to the countryside made famous by Thomas Hardy in his novels and poetry. Falmouth Oyster Festival Timed to coincide with the start of the oyster harvesting season in October, the festival celebrates the quality of Cornish seafood and one of the last remaining oyster fisheries.
