Local Beaches
There are five of Cornwall’s top beaches to visit when at Cornwall’s Sun Haven Valley and they are all on your door step. This variety of beaches all have different qualities about them some are ideal for surfing, others have stunning views and there’s even a quiet privately owned beach ideal to share with the family.
The beaches are:
• Mawgan Porth
• Watergate Bay
• Bedruthan Steps
• Porthcothan
• Constantine Bay
Mawgan Porth
The golden sandy beach of Mawgan Porth is spectacular and only 10 minuets walk away from Sun Haven Valley campsite. This charming area of countryside holds many treasure troves and being privately owned means that it never gets too busy. A review of the beach in the Sunday Times said “There are better-known and busier beaches in Cornwall, but few can match the raw beauty of Mawgan Porth”, this makes it the perfect escape to come relax on.

Watergate Bay
This is a very popular beach for surfers as it gets some of the best swells the Atlantic can produce. If you time it right at the spring low tide you’re able to walk all the way to Newquay while taking in some breath taking views. Normally at low tide there is 2 miles of beach to make the most of, especial if you have a family canine.

Bedruthan Step
This is a National Trust area is well known for the enormous slate out crops which jut out of the beach, making it a ideal place to go for a walk and take in the fabulous views from the cliff. There is a stair case that leads you down to the beach giving you the chance to get up close to the giant stacks, ledged has it that the rocks where placed there by a giant called Bedruthan who used them as stepping stones, I leave it up to you whether you believe it or not.
Porthcothan
This oasis is perfect for you and the family, including the dog to take to some idyllic sights. There is an abundance of wild life from interesting insects to birds of prey hunting for their next meal, so be sure to keep your eyes pealed as you wonder through this vivid landscape.

Constantine Bay
This is another favourite beach for surfers getting some of the biggest waves Cornwall has to offer. The craggy and rough landscape is great to explore with its mass of dunes, rock pools and astonishing views. This area is the most beautiful in the world so if your looking for magnificent walks this should definitely be on your list.
