Mawgan Porth Pool-Lakes
This is the local fishing spot for Sun Haven Valley positioned only a short walk away. At the pools and lakes there are wooden platforms with good paths that lead you around the waters edge, making it possible for all ages and disabilities to come and enjoy this wonderful place for fishing in Cornwall.
Mawgan Porth/ St Mawgan
The beautiful river is set in to the stunning Vale of Lenherne and runs straight through the heart of Mawgan Porth with Sun Haven Valley having access at the bottom our camping field. Brown trout thrive in this river so fishing for them is easy, all you need is a size 12 hook and some bread. You will how ever need to get a day pass which can be brought from the Merry Moor Inn at the centre of Mawgan Porth.
There is a choice of two lakes to pick from, the first has 4.5 acres of surface area and the smaller second has 2.7 acres. The depth ranges from 11 to 20 feet with Bodmin sheltering the fishery from the worst of the weather. This is a prime fishing spot in Cornwall with a variety of fish to catch including Rainbow, Brown, Gold, Blue and Triploid trout. The two lakes are stock daily with the average fish being 2lb+, with the record fishing a 16lb brown trout.
One of the nicest places to come fishing is Colliford Lake, only offering fly-fishing from the banks. This is a large lake with 365 hectares of surface area so finding you own spot of piece and quite is easy. The facilities on site are of top quality and include parking, toilets picnic areas and catering making it easy for you to simply enjoy your self.
This lake in Cornwall includes far more than just fishing , so if some members of the family want to fish the others can get involved in a number of different activities including circular walks and play areas. Fly fishing is the only excepted method at this lake and all anglers over the age of 12 must have a valid Environment Agency rod licence. The biggest recorded catch was a rainbow trout weight in at 10lb 8oz.
Newquay Boatmen’s Association
For those of you have got your sea legs about you and want to go deep sea fishing in Cornwall get yourself to Newquay harbour. This is a busy harbour set in to the heart of Newqauy and has still got may fishing boats using today. The angling boats are insured to go up to 60 miles off shore and are fitted with the best fish finding equipment as well as safety and rescue gear if you do happen to get in to any trouble.
The Celtic Warrior is the finest deep sea fishing vessel in North Cornwall. This 32ft Aqua Star home is in Padstow where is it docked for the majority of its life. She has got all the latest equipment on board including fish finder, radio/ ship to shore/ radar and GPS with life saving equipment up to BOT regulations, there is even a toilet on board. When you come for you deep sea fishing adventure all the equipment is supplied but you’re more then welcome to bring your own.
